Mr. Mukesh Ambani has announced once again that there are more goodies in store for us. Yes, that's right!! We will get virtually free JIO connections so that they can be further relieved from the burden of paying for their calls and data.
While I feel infinitely grateful to Mr. Ambani and Jio for having set the bar high (and costs low) for telecom operators and data providers in India, I do wonder sometimes what is the cost of this free data. Are the loans and NPAs piling up on us? Are we paying for these loans in the form of demonetization, in form of high GST, income tax? Are we paying through our nose for mere phone connections? Something to think about ....
